The final round of the ladies world championships qualifiers took place at Burnham PC. In warm temperatures reminiscent of the south of France 6 Whitnash ladies featured.
Despite some close tactical games none of the three teams containing Whitnash players made it past the morning barrage and into the top 4 play-offs, instead battling out for the minor placings in the afternoon. In the end the top Whitnash player of the series was Lynne Roberts, playing alongside Teresa Bingham (Warwick) and Jan Kimpton (Half crown) placing 6th, with All Whitnash trio Carol Woodward, Chris Rand and Clare Revill in 7th and finally Sam Cunnington and Lin Rendall playing alongside Wendy Brittan and Caoline Powell (Bopth Half Crown) in 8th.
It was a fantastic achievement to get 6 ladies through to this stage and with the number of girls playing in our junior section we can only hope that this success continues.
