On Saturday, 11th September five junior members took part in the 2010 Junior Singles Championships.and a ‘round Robin’ comprising four games were played to determine the winner.
All five contestants played well and the battle at the top was extremely close, with two players winning three out of four games. Both Aimee Colley and Sinead Coyle had a final score of 3 +11, and only one point separated the pair on points scored with Sinead taking the championship, beating Aimee by 50 points to 49 points. Amy Thompson played well to finish in third place with two wins, just beating Jean-Luc Stangoe by a difference of four points. Deanna Stangoe finished in 5th place, and although she had no wins on the day, she played well in the competition.
Sinead received the Pauline Ryan Trophy and also a memento plaque, with Aimee Colley winning a medal for second place. Pauline Ryan (Sinead’s grandmother) presented the championship trophy to Sinead.
