The first club championships of the year saw 10 players contest the club singles championships. After 4 games in a wheel Ross Woodward, the sole player on 4 wins, was joined by David Roberts, Hannah Griffin and Shirley Greenwood in the semi-finals. Such was the standard of the competition that the three most recent champions Rachel Kelly, Lynn Roberts and Glen Woodward filled the next 3 places on 2 wins a piece. So tight was the competition that the final semi final berth went down to the deciding point of the final end of the last qualifying round end where David secured his place ahead of Glen with a tense 13-12 win over Aimee Colley.
The semi finals were dominated by the two men with David defeating Shirley 13-3 despite consistent pointing performances throughout from Shirley, and Ross beating Hannah 13-5. Both games were played on the newly altered surface which has seen the addition of scattered larger stones to the Whitnash surface on half of the pistes.
The final was a much tighter affair, going 5 across, 7 across and 10 across, before David got to 12 following a brave last ball shot at 10 meters to score 2. Unfortunately his bravery went unrewarded as 2 ends later Ross pointed in for game to add a second singles title 10 years after his first.
